Academic

Act as Webmaster for the University of Montevallo Department of Communication Arts. Assist faculty in developing course Web pages. Serve on University-wide Web-based instruction task force. Assist University Webmaster with testing and evaluation of the University’s Campus Pipeline Internet Portal. Created, administered and analyzed a Web-based survey on the University community’s attitudes towards Web-based instruction during the summer semesters, 2000. Assisted the Chair of the Department of Communication Arts with a Web-based survey concerning attendance at College of Fine Arts functions during the spring semester of 2001. Assisted Department of Communication Arts faculty with implementing Microsoft PowerPoint in instruction. Directed videotaping and cablecast of Commencement exercises. Directed videotaping of the University’s homecoming competition in February 2000. Created Web-based videotape editing tutorial for use in the television production courses. Taught Communication Arts faculty to edit videotape for use in classroom instruction. Edited a public service commercial for a College of Education graduate program in Bibb County, Alabama. Provided technical assistance to a College of Education graduate class in the use of the Division of Mass Communication’s television production facilities. Assisted the Director of Broadcasting with a workshop in the basic use of video camcorders. Assisted Montevallo and Jemison police departments with enhancement and analysis of audio and video evidence tapes. Member of Department of Communication Arts Scholarship Committee. · Advise Alabama State University on matters pertaining to the creation of a distance learning program.

· Consult with Bishop State Community College about the creation and operation of a distance learning program in the Mobile, Alabama geographic area.

· Design and specify equipment and physical renovations necessary for two distance education classrooms at Alabama State University.

Assistant Director, The Division of Distance Education May 1997-July 1999

College of Continuing Studies, The University of Alabama

· Oversee all distance learning facilities for the Division of Distance Education, including seven video classrooms, one satellite earth station, three VTEL videoconferencing systems, one Mobile Distance Learning Classroom, one TV production studio, one FAST Video Machine non-linear editing system, and three electronic field production systems.

· Assist the Director of Distance Education with administrative issues as needed.

· Oversee the operation of the QUEST videotape-based distance learning program.

· Research and implement technologies and methods for Internet-based courses, including hardware and software strategies for production and delivery of online courses.

· Manage all new and existing telecommunications facilities for the College of Continuing Studies.

· Supervise, schedule and train two full-time technicians, two part-time technicians, and all student video technicians.

· Produce, direct, edit, create graphics for all promotional tapes, commercial spots, and training tapes as needed.

· Research and implement new technologies including Internet and World Wide Web Home Page for the Division of Distance Education.

· Operated and maintained the University's IITS classrooms (IITS is a compressed video distance education program).

· Assisted faculty in preparing visuals and videotapes for use in the QUEST and IITS classrooms.
